Coreopsis 'Zagreb' Characteristics
Also known by its common name ‘Tickseed,’ Coreopsis makes a fine addition to any pollinator garden or border planting. ‘Zagreb’ brings bright yellow blooms and a massing texture to the landscape, and these hardy perennials are tolerant of drought and summer heat.
There are many varieties in the Coreopsis family. 'Zagreb' is a useful and resilient choice in many applications. It is an especially useful plant in applications where water may be lacking, such as small hillsides or in areas without irrigation. 'Moonbeam,' another common variety, features thinner foliage with less of an upright habit, resembling some groundcovers.
These plants bloom in summer and may provide repeat blooms into early fall. They can be left uncut through fall and winter, when some species of birds will feed on the seeds of the spent plants. Cutting them back to the ground in fall or early spring will clear the way for the next season's growth to take place.
