Japanese Stewartia Characteristics
Japanese Stewartia are small to medium sized trees with a pyramidal or columnar shape. When grown as trees, they can reach up to 40'. When grown as multi-stemmed shrubs, they generally only reach to 15' tall. Small white flowers with yellow centers bloom in summer. The dark green foliage of spring and summer becomes shades of bright red and orange in fall. Even the bark is ornamental, exfoliating in the winter.
These multi-season interest trees are not prone to serious insect or disease problems, making them low maintenance and easy to care for.
