Pearly Everlasting | Plant Profile

Pearly Everylasting (Anaphalis margaritacea) are North American native perennials that have silvery-grey foliage and small white flowers that grow in clumps. The small white flowers encase yellow centers.

Pearly Everlasting prefer medium rocky soils in full sun to part shade. They can tolerate some clay and infertile soils.

As Pearly Everlasting are native to the Pittsburgh area, they make great additions to wild flower arrangements, meadows, and perennial borders.

Description

Pearly Everlasting Characteristics

Pearly Everlasting are clump forming perennials that grow on upright rigid stalks. The white flowers are particularly attractive when planted as an accent piece with more brightly colored flowers. The flower heads are often cut and used in dry flower arrangements or fresh bouquets. These flowers attract pollinating insects such as butterflies, but may be damaged by caterpillars.
