Blue Oat Grass Characteristics
Blue Oat Grass is a large and dramatic ornamental grass. It's blue blades stand out among other green an yellow grasses. It can bring height to a small garden where trees would be too cumbersome. The blue colors are similar to that of the Blue Fescue and Blue Spruces and may work well together as accent pieces.
Soil have even moisture and have good drainage. Full sun to part shade is ideal for this grass. If not given enough sun and air circulation, diseases and molds can occur, but is otherwise an easy to care for addition to a garden. Brown or dead foliage should be removed to preserve an attractive appearance and encourage new growth. Cutting it close to the ground in winter will stimulate new growth in the spring.
