Japanese Flowering Cherry 'Kanzan' Characteristics
Japanese Flowering Cherry 'Kanzan' are striking ornamental trees. These trees are especially ornamental because they are double flowering. Double flowering plants produce flowers with extra petals or flowers within flowers. While called a cherry tree, 'Kanzan' do not produce fruit.
'Kanzan' can be short lived as there are many types of serious disease or pest issues. Diseases include leaf spot, die back, leaf curl, powdery mildew, root rot, and fireblight. Insect visitors include but are not limited to caterpillars, tent caterpillars, and Japanese beetles.
