Mountain Mint | Plant Profile

Mountain Mint (Pycanthemum muticum) are fragrant, short, clump forming perennials. The oval or heart-shaped leaves are dark green, but are complimented by silvery brackets that can give the foliage a snow-dusted appearance. Pink flowers bloom atop the leaves from summer to fall and are highly attractive to butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects. When crushed, the aroma of the leaves is similar to spearmint. Dried leaves can be used to make mild teas.

Mountain Mint prefers fertile, medium moisture, well drained soils in full sun to part shade.

Mountain Mint has attractive foliage with pink flowers and silver accents that are ornamental for a long growing season. They are effective additions to pollinator or herb gardens. Allow them to naturalize to create an attractive meadow.
