Wintercreeper Euonymus | Plant Profile

The Wintercreeper Euonymus ‘Coloratus’ (Euonymus fortunei coloratus) is a tangled and trailing ground cover that can be used as a ground cover, mounded, or climbing vine.

It has dark green leaves in the summer that will turn purple in the fall. Flowers are sparse and insignificant. If left on the ground it will created a thick carpet. If left to climb, it will appear as long thick vines with more flowers than if left on the ground. Because of it’s tolerance to heavy shade, Wintercreeper can be used on wooded hillsides to help with erosion and to cover bare spots.

This is a hardy plant that will grow well in standard and well drained soils. It will survive in full sun to heavy shade and is not vulnerable to urban pollution.

Trimming is require once per year for aesthetics as it can become unruly if left alone.
